Dry Eye Treatment
Dry Eye Treatment at True Eye Experts
One of our specialties at True Eye Experts is diagnosing and treating dry eye syndrome. This is an extremely common affliction that many people suffer from every day without realizing exactly what it is, or that there are solutions to their discomfort.
What is Dry Eye Syndrome?
When people hear the term “dry eye,” a lot of times they think that is exclusively associated with someone’s eyes feeling itchy and, well, dry. In reality, there are many different classifications of dry eye, each with their own unique symptoms. At True Eye Experts, we have years of experience not only treating and diagnosing dry eye, but even getting patients who had given up on wearing contact lenses due to comfort issues back to a healthy enough state where they can wear their contact lenses again.
We regularly update our dry eye testing to incorporate new, advanced, and safe technology to aid us in combatting what is rapidly becoming one of the most diagnosed eye conditions in Florida and across the country.
Dry Eye Symptoms
The following are the most common symptoms cited by our dry eye patients:
- Burning sensation
- Pain
- Feeling like there is something in the eye
- Inability to be near a fan or turn on a car’s AC
- Pain when holding eyes wide open
- Light sensitivity
- Contact lens discomfort after a few hours
- Poor night driving vision
- Swelling of the eyelids
- Bloodshot eyes
- Redness around eyes from constant rubbing
While we’re happy to provide information about dry eye syndrome here, we don’t want patients to “self-diagnose” by reading a list of symptoms on our website. Usually, that type of conversation (and diagnosis) is best left between the patient and their eye doctor in our office.
Dry Eye Diagnosis and Treatment
Dry eye can be caused by genetics, environment, side effects of medication or disease, or allergies. If we diagnose a patient for a mild case of dry eye during one of our comprehensive eye exams, the eye doctor may recommend some type of supplement, eye drop, or even a simple change in diet.
In more advanced cases, we have technology at our office that can take infrared images of glands underneath your eyelids that can’t be seen with the naked eye. These glands are responsible for the majority of lubrication that is required to make your eyes healthy and comfortable. We offer several different affordable treatments for these more advanced cases of dry eyes.
