Meet Dr. Melissa Mercer

Melissa Mercer, O.D.
Primary Care Optometry for Patients of All Ages
From a young age, Dr. Melissa Mercer (mer-sir) took an interest in both the physical and mental elements of what makes humans who we are. She combined these interests at Florida State University by pursuing a pre-med track with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She graduated from Nova Southeastern in 2000 with a Doctorate in Optometry. Her training included an externship at the West Palm Beach VA hospital.
At Nova, Dr. Mercer earned the award for excellence in contact lens care. In her first job, and for 12 years of her career, she worked with a renowned corneal specialist. He sent patients to her who required unique contact lenses for vision correction. Working in this environment, she developed a skill for fitting extremely challenging cases. Helping with these types of cases is the most rewarding aspect of her career.
After over 20 years of practicing in the field, the constant advancement in technology excites her. She feels lucky to have access to the latest technology at True Eye Experts.
When Dr. Mercer isn’t working, she loves spending time with her three daughters. They enjoy music of all varieties and are known to gleefully break out into Broadway hits. To relax, Dr. Mercer likes long walks, painting and playing the piano.
