Melissa Mercer, OD 

Dr. Melissa Mercer (mer-sir) is a skilled and experienced optometrist who’s passionate about providing primary eye care and fitting contacts. After spending over 20 years as an eye doctor, the constant advancement in technology still excites and inspires her. Driven by this enthusiasm, she considers herself fortunate to be working with True Eye Experts, where she leverages the latest advancements to enhance patient experiences and outcomes.

Dr. Mercer’s Experience

Dr. Mercer has been fascinated by the physical and mental aspects that define human beings since a young age. Pursuing her interests, she completed a pre-med track with a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Florida State University. Later, in 2000, she obtained a Doctorate in Optometry from Nova Southeastern, where she was awarded for excellence in contact lens care. As part of her training, she completed an externship at the West Palm Beach VA Hospital.

For the first 12 years of her career, Dr. Mercer worked alongside a well-known corneal specialist. Patients requiring unique contact lenses for vision correction were referred to her, which allowed her to develop her skills in working with extremely challenging cases.

She considers helping these patients with their contacts as one of the most fulfilling aspects of her career.

Get to Know Dr. Mercer

One of Dr. Mercer’s favorite things to do is spend time with her three daughters. They all share a love for music and often burst into Broadway tunes together. When she wants to unwind, Dr. Mercer enjoys taking long walks, painting, and playing the piano.
